“An Institute of Dreams is an artistic project wherein the possibility of an Institute of Dreams, Imagination and Intuition is tested through practice.“
Increasingly, scientific insights and age-old practices speak the same language.
This convergence of worldviews heralds the beginning of a new culture for Western society, in which the rational and scientific handling of the world is balanced by its intuitive and participatory counterpart. Man becomes part of nature again, and as such, inseparable from all other life.
With the aim of building bridges between old and new, and thus helping shape this period of transition between cultures, we have created an artistic platform: An Institute of Dreams. As an artistic project, we are testing the possibility of the existence of such an institute. We collect information, create a network and experience as many different consciousness-related practices as possible. In collaboration with cultural institutions and other partners, we set up meetings, talks, lectures, workshops and research weeks. With each step in this process, we thus co-create this new, fledgling, unfolding culture.
We believe artists have an important role to play in this cultural transition by building bridges between all these different ways of being and seeing, and by creating new forms for all strata of society. As such, it is an important part of our mission to kickstart the development of ‘Departments of Consciousness’ within art schools around the world, starting in the Low Countries. We are therefore developing a growing toolbox and vision to accelerate the paradigm shift within the art world.
